"Safe Haven" Program: An alternative to leaving infants in unsafe places

Do You Know?

  • If you are about to give birth and are unable or unwilling to care for a baby
  • If you are alone and overwhelmed at the thought of the responsibility of caring for a baby
  • If you are sure that there is nowhere to turn just when you need help most

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ABANDON YOUR INFANT!!!

Montgomery General Hospital participates in the Montgomery County "Safe Haven" Program.  You can give up your newborn baby safely, legally and confidentially.

  • Just contact your local hospital or police department.
  • You can leave your unharmed baby within 3 days of the baby's birth.
  • You don't have to give your name - the only information needed is any medical information about the newborn.
  • YOUR BABY WILL BE SAFE AND CARED FOR!!  You will not be criminally charged.
