Palliative Care

When a patient is facing a life-threatening or life-changing disease or illness, being surrounded by family and friends in a circle of love and dignity is important.

At Montgomery General Hospital, the Advanced Care Team (ACT-Team) from Palliative Care provides the patient and family members with the emotional, physical, social and spiritual support they need at this critical time. Close family and friends are kept well-informed by the ACT-Team and are able to be an effective part of the patient's circle of care.

The ACT-Team uses a comprehensive approach to relieve pain and suffering. This team also is skilled to provide care for persons with advanced disease that may not respond to curative efforts, although curative measures may be continued.

To contact the ACT-Team, speak with your physician or any member of our nursing staff. You can also reach the ACT-Team directly by calling 301-570-8500, extension 2280
