Diagnostic Radiology
Montgomery General Hospital’s Medical Imaging services provide comprehensive diagnostic and interventional radiology with advanced technology. Radiologists work closely with our highly qualified staff of nurses and technologists to provide a full range of diagnostic imaging services for inpatients and outpatients including:
  • Diagnostic X-ray.
Provides radiographic (x-ray) services to inpatients, outpatients and emergency room patients of all ages. Outpatient procedures are scheduled 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Computerized Tomography (CT)
This unique test has the ability to image a combination of soft tissue organs, bone and blood vessels on several different dimensions, including 3D, for inpatients, outpatients and emergency room patients of all ages. Our new 64 slice CT can provide heart and cardiovascular scanning as well as routine imaging in minutes. This allows for less motion artifact and quicker turnaround times for our patients.

  • Ultrasound.
General Ultrasound utilizes high frequency sound waves to obtain images of the abdomen, pelvic structures, pregnancies (including high risk), breasts, and Ultrasound guided biopsy and drainage procedures. Vascular Ultrasound is an ultrasound study which focuses on the arterial and venous blood vessels. Carotid Duplex, Venous Doppler and ABI’s are only a few of the studies we can perform with our new Phillips and Parks ultrasound units.
  • Nuclear Medicine.
These services are offered to inpatient, outpatient and emergency room patients including adolescents and adults. Nuclear medicine uses radioactive tracer agents to image the body and treat disease. This procedure looks at both the physiology (functioning) and the anatomy of the body in establishing diagnosis and treatment.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
MRI is a method for viewing the human body via images. It allows physicians to see images of the internal organs in the body in great detail from any angle. MRI is one of the best diagnostic exams for imaging the brain, cervical spine and blood vessels of the neck and upper abdomen. This technology can be very beneficial in diagnosing malignant and nonmalignant tumors, infections and congenital defects.

    P.E.T Scan
The P.E.T. (Positron Emission Tomography) scanner is an imaging technique that surpasses traditional CT scans and MRIs in the diagnosis of cancer because of its unique ability to pinpoint malignant tumors, producing vivid, three-dimensional images of the malignancy in a non-invasive procedure.

Referring physicians should call 301-460-2600 x529 to schedule an appointment for their patients.

PACS: Picture Archive Communication System
PACS is a computer system that allows storage and viewing of medical images at physician fingertips. Through PACS, images can be viewed on our hospital computer system or copied to a CD.
