Montgomery General Hospital offers inpatient as well as outpatient laboratory services provided by a professional staff including board-certified Pathologists, Medical Technologists (MT) and Histotechnologists (HT) certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT), certified by ASCP, phlebotomists, as well as other administrative support staff.
OUTPATIENT LABORATORY SERVICES
Montgomery General Hospital’s Outreach Patient Service Center is conveniently located in our Medical Office Building (directly adjacent to MGH) at 18109 Prince Philip Drive, Suite 150. The Outreach facility provides collection services for all standard laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, etc.) by a certified, professional staff on an outpatient basis. Testing is sent to reference laboratories (usually Quest Diagnostics or Lab Corp, Inc.) depending upon the patient’s insurance. Many types of insurance, HMOs, as well as Medicare and Medicaid are accepted. The Hospital Main Laboratory will process STAT specimens drawn in the MGH Outreach facility during routine hours, and STAT specimens that are drawn in the Main Laboratory when the Outreach facility is closed. INPATIENT LABORATORY SERVICESMontgomery General Hospital’s Inpatient Clinical Laboratory provides excellent 24-hour-a-day inpatient laboratory services to our patients, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, urinalysis, coagulation, serology, histology, and pathology testing. The full-service blood bank offers therapeutic phlebotomy when ordered by a physician for patients having specific needs. Blood products are supplied by Inova Blood Donor Services, and rarely from the American Red Cross. For more information call (301) 774-8780.
