Program Overview
What can you expect during your visit to the Emergency Department?
Arrival: Upon arrival, you will be greeted and meet with a triage nurse.
Triage: Triage is usually the first step in a visit to our Emergency Department. During triage, patients are assessed by a nurse. The nurse may begin treatment, such as administering medication or applying bandages. The triage exam defines the patient's specific medical needs.
Registration: Staff will obtain additional information needed to complete your patient record.
Registration Area: You may be asked to sit in the reception area until a bed is available for you in the Emergency Department. Patients will be seen as determined by the triage nurse - with the most urgent patients being seen first.
Treatment: A Physician trained in Emergency Medicine or a Physician Assistant (working under the supervision of your Emergeney Department Physician) will direct your care. A registered nurse will examine you and obtain a more complete history about your health concern. Your nurse will answer any questions you may have and keep you informed during your visit. A nurse or a technician may initiate standard protocols of treatment in order to expedite your care.
Visitors: To protect all patient's privacy and to provide proper assessment and treatment, visitors are limited to one (1) per patient. We ask that you remain at the bedside. Children are allowed two (2) visitors. There may be critical times when all visitors are required to leave the Emergency Care area.
Discharge: You will receive written instructions during the discharge process. Please read the instructions prior to signing so that staff can clarify any concerns you may have. Please be sure to follow up with your physician.
Patient Satisfaction Survey: Montgomery General Hospital is committed to providing very good care to every patient. You may receive a Patient Satisfaction survey. Please help us serve you better by filling out and returning your survey.
Restrooms: Restrooms are conveniently located in the main corridor on the same side as the Emergency Department entrance.
