The Cancer Registry at MGH is an information system that collects, manages, and analyzes the data on persons with the diagnosis of cancer. The registry provides a system to monitor the types of cancer diagnosed and/or treated at MGH. Information about each patient's treatment and outcome is submitted to the state as required by law.
This data is trended for a variety of uses including: rates of cancer incidence, cancer surveillance, allocation of resources, development of education programs, and evaluation of treatments. Patient confidentiality is strictly maintained, as aggregate data is analyzed and published without any patient identifiers at all.
Additional information may be obtained by contacting the Oncology Data Coordinator at dotani@montgomerygeneral.com.
Tumor Board
A multidisciplinary approach to the care of the cancer patient is important at MGH. Weekly cancer conferences called "Tumor Boards" are held where interesting or difficult cases are presented. Physicians discuss these cases and make recommendations for treatment.
