Montgomery General Hospital's Cancer Program

For over 85 years, (MGH since 1981), Montgomery General Hospital has been delivering compassionate, quality care to the community. Our cancer program offers the full range of services and resources for the diagnosis, treatment and support of cancer patients but with something more. Our staff of dedicated doctors, nurses and technicians believes in the individuality of each patient. The cancer program at Montgomery General Hospital prides itself in delivering state-of-the-art care coupled with the personal touch that you only find in a small community hospital.

Our Cancer Program was the first hospital program in Montgomery County approved by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and is currently accredited with commendation.  In 2001, we opened the Helen P. Denit Center for Radiation Therapy in affiliation with the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center. This collaboration provides superior radiation therapy services like those previously found only in a university setting.

We are pleased to announce that Montgomery General is part of the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center's (UMGCC) telemedicine program. This new program delivers top-notch cancer care to Maryland patients by allowing physicians at UMGCC’s Department of Radiation Oncology in downtown Baltimore to consult and review cases with physicians in affiliated radiation oncology community practices, including areas such as Anne Arundel, Montgomery and Howard Counties. Telemedicine allows these doctors to communicate with each other in real time through video and telephone connections. Together doctors can then decide the best treatment plan for patients and monitor the patient's progress.
